Built in 1973 from the site of what was previously a garrison, the Mirador del Rio is a spectacular viewing point, hewn out of the northern-most tip of the island. It looks down, as if from the cockpit of a plane, on the neighbouring island of La Graciosa and the chinijo (or 'child islands') of Alegranza, Montaña Clara, Roques Del Este and Oeste. This is a breathtaking place to visit from both the height perspective (600 metres above sea level) and the amount of work involved in the excavation of the cliff face.

There is a bar and restaurant on site.
