The Snug

The Snug at Faro Park is a favourite local watering hole, and a firmly established part of the Faro Park community. It has been  run for the past 3 years by Julie and John,  from Kent, who provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere top anyone who visits.  They originally honeymooned on Lanzarote more years ago than either of them care to remember.  According to John, "We said then that, if ever we could afford it, we would buy somewhere here, and move out here to live". This dream came true 9 years ago, when they bought their first Lanzarote home, though it was to take until 2006 for them to be able to move out permanently to Lanzarote, buying the Snug shortly afterwards. John claims that they chose the Faro Park area for its tranquillity and friendliness.

In many ways, the Snug has developed into a real hub of the Faro Park community. There is an easy sense of informality and relaxation in the bar, with many local residents stopping in  for a drink and a chat either on the way home from work or later in the evening.  It is equally popular with holidaymakers staying nearby, many of whom return to the area regularly to recharge their batteries.

Since taking over the Snug, John and Julie have introduced lots of activities, including a Golf Society that now plays on the second Tuesday in every month. (For those interested in golf in Lanzarote, the island now offers a choice of two courses). The Golf Society plays its golf in Tias, the newer of the two courses.

Equally popular are the Snug poker nights (Mondays for men, and Thursdays for ladies).  Take note - the ladies play for chocolate!  There is also darts and pool, and special theme nights and summer party nights, which may include fancy dress  - recent events were held on St Patrick's Day and a bangers and mash supper was held on St George's Day.  Other games nights include TV Horse Racing, Play Your Cards Right, and pub quizzes.

Football fans are well catered for, with four flat screen TVs, and when the football is not on, you can enjoy music videos or reality TV programmes like X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing.  The Snug is very family friendly, and there are also special children's events at Christmas, Easter and Halloween, to name just three.

The sense of community at the Snug is reinforced by another innovation - the Snug Losers' Club, a weekly slimming club where locals get together and discuss recipe ideas and how they are progressing with their weight and fitness goals.

In addition to the main indoor bar, there is a seating area just outside.  Customers can enjoy delicious meals here that are actually cooked and served by Le Moka next door, the two venues working in partnership to provide a complete hospitality and catering service.

Be sure to pay a visit to the Snug next time you are in Playa Blanca - you can be certain of a warm welcome.

I agree with you June, and John and Julie run it really well. Is it true there's a slimming club there as well? Seems unusual for a pub!

Yes the Snug has lots of activities for locals and holidaymakers alike including "The Snug Losers Club". Every wednesday afternoon the local ladies who are keen on shedding a few pounds post all the christmas festivities meet and with the help of a local retired health professional discuss healthy eating increased mobility and exchange ideas. This week the ladies lost 2 stone between them in total which is great going and now even some of the husbands are joining in.

The Snug is a very clean and relaxing bar. Julie & John really make you feel welcome and are very helpful in arranging all sorts of problems that come with holidaying.

Visited on several occasions in June and enjoyed it every time, it was welcoming and the beer was worth the 20 minute walk every time. I will be back, no doubt.
