Flights to Lanzarote: More Flights at Better Prices

The world is a shrinking place these days, with increased numbers of flights at lower prices from, without doubt, more and more UK airports.

Lanzarote is no exception to this trend, with increasing numbers being attracted to holiday on the island, often several times a year.  One retired gentleman was recently reported in the press as having enjoyed no fewer than 69 holidays on the island!  Depending on where you are in the UK, flights times vary between just  4 to    4 ½ hours,  little more time than it takes to drive between London and Manchester. The difference is that once there, you can enjoy daytime temperatures of 24-30 Celsius ANY month of the year, unlike most Southern European destinations.

There has been a significant increase in the number of flights to Lanzarote in the past two years, and the cost of flights has come down accordingly. Coupled with the ready supply of good hotels and luxury holiday villas in Lanzarote, this means that the average couple or family can enjoy a great sunshine holiday at any time of the year, for a bargain price.

When it comes to finding the best deal on flights to Lanzarote, it pays to start searching early, and to get a general idea of likely flight costs at the time you want to travel.  If you plan to book your flights and accommodation separately rather than getting a package deal, it’s generally best to look at flights first, and then the accommodation that is most suitable for you at that time. Check out that the accommodation is available, then book your flights, followed by the accommodation.

If you are travelling during half term or the Christmas, New Year or Easter holidays, you will definitely need to start planning early, as both flights and accommodation places fill up very quickly.  These holiday times, along with mid July and August, are the busiest times on the island, so plan early!

You are most likely to find cheap flights to Lanzarote, and lower accommodation prices, in the months of November to mid December, January (after New Year) and May to June. The latter months especially are often really warm, and the resorts are quieter. Why not take in the world famous Lanzarote Ironman Triathlon in late May, one of the events of the island’s year?

These days, flights to Lanzarote are available from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Doncaster, Leeds-Bradford, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Stansted, Luton, Gatwick and Bournemouth, plus Dublin, Cork and Belfast in Ireland.  Across the board, you will generally find more flights for Thursday travel than other days of the week, but the bigger airports do offer several alternative days of travel.

Again, if you have special needs whilst travelling through the airport, or on the plane, it is best to arrange these well in advance, at the time you book your tickets, rather than leaving it until the last minute.
