Golf in Lanzarote

hoyo18_300.png

There are currently two 18 hole golf courses in Lanzarote, and a further one due to start construction in early 2011. It is a growing attraction on the island, since as little as 2 years ago, the only course was the long-established Teguise Golf, just near Costa Teguise.

The most popular time to play, and regarded as peak season for golf in the Canary Islands, is November to March. Both the Costa Teguise and Tias courses are quite long and challenging in parts, and have stunning views of the mountains and coastline.

Both courses offer buggy, trolley, and club hire, as well as a clubhouse with restaurant and bar facilities.

Planning permission has also recently been granted for a futher golf course in Playa Blanca. People familiar with the Montana Roja, Playa Blanca area will know that a golf course has been at the design stage for some years between the Montana and the sea, to the west of the Faro Park developments.  The word is that work will now start on this new course early in 2011, though no timetable has been issued for completion as yet.  We will keep an eye on developments and update this page as soon as we have further definite news.
