Playa Blanca Lanzarote

Playa Blanca Lanzarote - In recent years, Playa Blanca has grown from its original fishing village roots, to become a thriving family resort. There is possibly the best choice across the Canary Islands of luxury Lanzarote villas in Playa Blanca; just ask any of the thousands that stay in them every year.

There are also some excellent four and five star hotels in Playa Blanca, and a wide choice of excellent places to eat to suit all budgets.

Located at the south eastern tip of Lanzarote, Playa Blanca enjoys some of the best weather on the island, and also has some of the best beaches.  The Town Beach occupies a central position just over the wall from the promenade, and a few minutes’ walk from a wide range of restaurants, shops and bars.

Playa Dorada beach is bigger and located about a 5 minute walk from the Town, nestling between the Town and the very stylish and newly established Marina Rubicon, which offers an eye-watering mix of designer yachts and boats, bars, restaurants, clothing and gift shops.  There is also a busy street market selling a wide range of crafts, accessories and clothing at the Marina every Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 10 am.

Further on from Marina Rubicon, and you really need a car to get there, is Costa del Papagayo, designated as a national park for its outstanding beauty.  Here there are several wide and sandy beaches complete with sand dunes, small coves and wild looking cliffs (think ‘Wuthering Heights’ only much, much warmer! ).  Naturism (as opposed to topless sunbathing) is very popular on Papagayo,  as well as other areas on the island.

At the other end of Playa Blanca (Lanzarote) is the original fishing harbour, great for just watching the ferries and other boats going in and out.

Playa Blanca, Lanzarote: Three Great Areas for a Family Holiday

Playa Blanca Lanzarote sits at the southern tip of the island , and enjoys the best weather and beaches on the island. It is fast becoming the most popular resort on the island, and attracts families from all over Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Germany and mainland Spain.

Many holidaymakers like the freedom and facilities of self catering in the many holiday villas in Playa Blanca, so we thought this was a good time to give an overview  of the three main areas of the town to help you choose where to stay for your next holiday there.

Playa Blanca has three main areas that you can choose from, and all have great choice of holiday accommodation

Playa Blanca Central:  easy access on foot to three excellent beaches, plus the town with its great range of shops, bars and restaurants

Marina Rubicon, a relatively new marina development that is also quite close to the Playas de Papagayo

Montana Roja: at the southern end of Playa Blanca, and comprising many of the newest and most luxurious villa developments.

Playa Blanca Bus Service

The number 30 bus service connects the Las Coloradas area of Playa Blanca (near Papagayo, to the North of the town), with Faro Park at the far southern end of Playa Blanca.
