Lanzarote Golf opened as a  modern 18-hole golf course in 2008. It is a challenging, but very enjoyable par 72 course, and was created by the well-known American designer Ron Kirby who adapted the original land, with its attractive undulations in keeping with the idyllic landscape of Lanzarote. According to Kirby  “I want the course to be fun and enjoyable for all players but never regarded as easy.

The course measures just over 5,800 metres from tee to green, as measured by the yellow stakes (mens’ distance, non-championship), and consists of four par 3 holes, 10 par 4 holes, and 4 par 5 holes. There is a large lake adjacent to the 17th fairway, and bunkers have been cleverly positioned to keep golfers thinking about the range of their shots as they travel around the course.

The great thing about playing golf in Lanzarote is that the weather means you can enjoy your favourite sport throughout the year, in a beautiful climate, on a course that captures the beauty and atmosphere of this unique island.

Since opening, the course has steadily developed its range of services, and the club house now offers a well-stocked pro-shop, hiring of all golf equipment (golf clubs, trolleys, electric trolleys, buggies), and “Hoyo 19”, a splendid bar/cafeteria with large terraces and spectacular views over the course and the Atlantic ocean.  There is also a putting green and driving range, so that you can get your eye in before you play, or just to use to improve your technique.

David Minchin, a trained PGA Professional, has recently joined the team to coach golfers. David has ‘AA’ status from the PGA of Great Britain, and ‘61’ status from the PGA of Germany.

According to David’s CV:  “I am a member of both the British and German PGAs and I have been a full-time teacher and coach for 20 years, the last 18 of which in Germany where I work in the summer season.
