North Lanzarote

North Lanzarote is less populated than the centre and South of the island, but it is well worth spending some quality time here.  If you value beautiful scenery and tranquility, you will simply love it, and find it to be a total contrast to other parts of Lanzarote.

Some of the views in this part of Lanzarote will take your breath away.  Try a visit to Mirador del Rio, a spectacular viewing point, hewn out of the northern-most tip of the island, and looking down, as if from the cockpit of a plane, on the neighbouring islands of La Graciosa and Montana Clara.  La Graciosa itself can be reached via ferry from Orzola, a good excuse for a 30 minute boat trip across the straits of El Rio, which will set you down in the picturesque fishing village of Caleta del Sebo.

Going from the Northern tip of the island round to the north west, the fabulous beach at Caleta de Famara, famous with surfers the world over, nestles at the base of a 2,000 foot-high mountain range.  Stunning, and not to be missed.
