Family Beaches

There are plenty of good safe beaches in Lanzarote, especially around the main resorts of Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise.

In Playa Blanca, the main family resort on the island, all three main beaches: Playa Flamingo, Playa Dorada and the central town beach are well-patrolled by lifeguards, and well-served by bars and shops.

Puerto del Carmen centres around the Avenida de las Playas, which is more than 6 kilometres in length.  The three beaches (Playa Grande, Playa de Los Pocillos, and Playa de Matagorda)  are connected together by a single vibrant promenade.   The beach itself is completely man-made, with a gentle shelf out to sea from the waterline.   It is such a wide beach that it seldom suffers from overcrowding.

At Costa Teguise, the Playa de las Cucharas is both scenic and family-friendly.  It is a sheltered beach with calm waters.
