Watersports Beaches

Watersports are well catered for in many parts of Lanzarote.  If surfing is your main thing, Caleta de Famara, off the North-western coast of the island, is the surfing centre of Lanzarote.  The beach at Famara is really a bay set between majestic mountain ranges.  With big ocean rollers from the Atlantic running in for most of the year, Famara is famous worldwide for the quality of its surf.

Costa Teguise is more sheltered by comparison, but still windy, so windsurfing is very popular here, especially at Las Cucharas, one of the three main beaches of Costa Teguise.

Diving is popular at Puerto del Carmen, Marina Rubicon (Playa Blanca) and from Playa Blanca itself.  You can take a PADI course at many of the schools that will enable you to go out diving with qualified dive instructors/leaders.
